Awen

senses,

I remember the reap and feasts

of old,

I remember you.

There is a line of crimson-curled poesy

working deep inside

and it’s biting at my ribs

to be let out–

(this is Awen–when muse strikes and you are helpless before it.)

I’m trying,

oh I’m trying to live.

I’m trying to be real.

that’s what,

Shut Up.

It’s not like anything else I know.

lint

wanting to write

waiting to write

I was encouraged to contemplate the lint in my navel

upon inspection I don’t even have that to provide a start

all it takes is one word, a beginning

all great works; start with one word

one note, one thought

yet here I sit…

wanting to write

waiting to write

pedaling poet

I was just outside

pondering my inability

to produce any post-worthy poetry

when a drunken poet

rode by on a bicycle

performing spoken word

loudly

for the neighborhood

I only caught part of it

as he pedaled past

in the dark

but I’m sure it was beautiful

and profound…

“…camero burning rubber

Danny Glover

got to wear a rubber…” — the Pedaling Poet

You have to admire his confidence to share his words with anyone who was listening.  Got me to thinking that I should just post something whether I think it is “post-worthy” or not.

Paresthesia

i’m stranded

thoughts strangled

by emotion

i must-have slept on my brain funny*

’cause I’ve lost the ability to word

and

it is pins and needle painful

my body has been laughing at me

for years

but

I’ve always been able to count on my mind

but somehow that seems lost in time

as records play

on repeat

* I unashamedly admit that I stole the line “i must-have slept on my brain funny” from my very silly husband

Land of the Word

Wordifull

This has been a long time coming,

this deluge, this sea of words—

I was silent for so long, you see,

silent and absent and not feeling

overmuch of anything

til you

this storm has been brewing for years

while I was alone and unloved

and now all has changed

now I am alive and vibrant

and I am home again in this brain cave

I have come home again to the Land of the Word

and it is you who led me here
