Dirty Windows

Dirty windows  hide a multitude of sins

so they keep them dirty so no one can see within

Problem is we are starting to wipe away the grime

and the whole world is witnessing their crimes

Wearing a badge doesn’t place you above the law

For many, George Floyd was the final straw

There are good police who do actually “protect and serve”

and those who don’t should get what they deserve

Glad to see that all 4 officers involved have been charged. Hopefully they will not be sentenced lightly.

A sunny day…a poem about death from Rethinking Life

Had to share this fabulous poem from Gigi, see original post here.

Police, Cop, Police Uniforms

and when death comes
in might be
on a sunny afternoon
when everything seems fine
until suddenly you
can’t breath
because your
hands are zipped
behind your back
and there’s a knee
pressing against your
throat
and
then
on that bright
sunny day
with people
shouting
he can’t breath
it’s all
over
and
you’re
someplace
else
someplace
you didn’t expect
to visit so soon
and the country
you are no longer
a part of
bursts into
RAGE
and
FLAMES
and
people
begin to
WAKE UP
and
FINALLY
start to
FIGHT
BACK

Take a knee

It is touching to see police officers take a knee

to show their solidarity, their humanity

to see them stand against police brutality

and fitting too as it was a knee

that took a man’s life

it is not enough

but it is a start

Murder is Murder

Let us not become so desensitized

by the daily deluge of hate, violence and lies

that we allow a murder to be minimized

This was not an ‘incident’ or an ‘unfortunate situation’

George Floyd was Murdered

There is no question

Murder is Murder whether the killer is in uniform or not

Over what? A “suspected” $20 forgery?

George is one of many, too many

that have died of police brutality

and those officers who stood by and let it happen are guilty,

as well, and must be held accountable because silence is complicity

There are no justifications

and so fear, anger and pain fuel demonstrations

Regardless of race, religion or political affiliation

may our voices join together in condemnation

and as one people, “We The People” as a nation

demand the guilty parties immediate incarceration

Please– Let us not become so desensitized

by the daily deluge of hate, violence and lies

that we allow a murder to be minimized
