Kate…A Story poem…

A beautiful ode to the Moon from Gigi ❤

Rethinking Life

Katie
was born outside
on a clear night
under a crescent Moon

the first thing she saw
through her blurry vision
was that beautiful sliver
of white
hanging in the sky above her

she cooed
at it
and kicked her feet

opening and closing
her tiny new fingers
she reached out
toward the Moon
and the
Moon
took notice

the Moon looked
down
and saw a new daughter
one of Her very own
so She placed
a crescent birthmark
on her wee right arm

Katie
fascinated
with the Moon
sang to Her
every night

she sang about
the Moon’s beauty
she sang about
Her kindness
and when Katie closed her eyes
the only thing she ever saw
was that beautiful crescent Moon
smiling down at her

so if you hear someone singing
about the wonders
of the Moon
and the night sky
it’s probably one of Katie’s songs

Rethinking Life

it’s one more lie
that the meek will
inherit anything at all
it’s a false promise
to keep people quiet
hoping for a payoff
at the end
because that’s what
RELIGION is all about
payoffs at the end
promises that have no
basis in reality
just a way to control you
while you’re alive
while the country burns
they want you to sit back
and watch the flames
get on your knees
think happy thoughts
smile
while people scream
and die in the streets
beg for food
and shelter
the priests rape
counting their gold
and the government
gets rich on the poverty
of others
and the dead bodies of our children
who die in foreign lands
as the meek wait for their
reward
a reward for doing nothing
for obeying
for being quiet
for bowing down to the status quo
for keeping their words
INSIDE their throats
for not…

The true story of Medusa…a poem

get out Perseus
I’ve said no
a thousand times
I want to be alone
you call me Monster
but it’s you who are the monster
forcing women against their will
keeping them in cages
using them
abusing them
denying them
you call me Gorgon
I wear the name proudly
you fear my power
my strength
I’m not here for you
leave
or I will kill you
the snakes hissed
and slithered
reaching for him
their eyes red with rage
you dare speak to me that way
he shouted
his hands balled into fists
and with one swift motion
his head hit the floor
I speak anyway I wish
said Medusa softly
this is my home
then she grabbed his ankle
and dragged his still body to the sea

You think you know me, but you do not.  You make up stories about me and believe they are true, but they are not.  You mold me into what you wish me to be but I tell you, you know me not.  You give me names that suit you, suit your fiction and your beliefs, but do you ever wonder who I truly am?  Do you ask yourself what I am?

Humans are funny creatures, thinking that believing makes it so.  I can assure you that nothing is farther from the truth.  Outside of your slanted and tiny belief system are wonders untold.  Layers of life you are blind to, by choice and by circumstance.  You turn away from the things that do not fit into your story but those things do not disappear, they live on without your consent or acknowledgement.

Names have power, I will…

hold tightly

Chicago Botanic Garden: Picture by Gigi See Original

she possesses softness and beauty
and remembers to hold them tightly
surrounding herself with love
and enveloping her soul with kindness
because while you should always be kind to others
it is equally important to be kind to yourself
and sometimes harder to do

The Connely boys…

I had to share this wonderful short story by Gigi.  She weaves such magical tales filled with love and hope.  Do visit her page to find more treasures.

Everyone thought Billy, Bobby and Jimmy were brothers, I mean they did have the same last name, after all.  But the truth is, the boys were not related in any way.  Matt and Clarise Connely had Billy and then sort of picked up Bobby and Jimmy along the way.

They were living on Elm Street, in a sleepy sort of town, when Bobby started hanging around their house.  He and Billy became friends and what was once a, “would you like to stay for dinner,” invitation quickly turned in to an every night occurrence.  Bobby, it seemed, was afraid to go home. Clarise could see it on his face and in his manner.  One night, when everyone went into the living room, she asked him to stay the kitchen for a moment.  Clarise asked Bobby to sit down at the table, which he did rather reluctantly.   She gave him a plate of chocolate chip cookies, right out of the oven, so the chips were soft and stringy, just the way he liked them.

“You’re almost living here,” said Clarise sweetly.

“Can I?” asked Bobby.

“Can you what?”

“Live here,” he answered in a rush, his eyes wide, chocolate smeared across his upper lip.  “Please.”
